Our Langtang Valley trek was made truly unforgettable thanks to Dipu from 'Mount Face Nepal'. As a group of hikers in our 50s, we were initially cautious about altitude, pace, and overall safety—but from the very beginning, Guide Dipu (who was highly recommended by word of mouth) made us feel less like clients and more like family trekking together.
Even before we confirmed the trip, Dipu patiently answered every question we had and arranged an online briefing to walk us through the itinerary, expectations, and preparations. Cautioning us on acclimatisation strategies, working on days to ensure we are well adjusted & ready for the climb. His patience, thoroughness and transparency gave us great confidence and peace of mind before we even arrived in Nepal.
Upon reaching Kathmandu, Dipu conducted an in-depth briefing on the dos and don’ts of trekking, emphasising openness, mutual care, and teamwork so the journey could run smoothly for everyone.
Dipu took care of the little things that mattered a lot. First day in the morning, A SIM card was provided to each of us so we could stay connected, and he also helped us change Nepali currency at the bank rates according to the rates we checked online, saving us the hassle and stress of negotiating with local money changers.
Dipu went above and beyond in providing support and equipment—sub zero sleeping bags, thermal hot water bottles, trekking poles, duffel bags, and even personally walking us to shop to ensure that the down jackets that he provided for, were properly fitted for each of us.
During the hike, whenever he saw any of us struggling or panting, he would quietly carry our backpacks without hesitation.
Throughout the trek, his attentiveness never wavered. He constantly checked in on us, monitored our condition, and adjusted plans when needed to ensure everyone was safe and comfortable.
For trekking mate who was able to attempt Tserko Ri, crampon was provided. Safety was clearly Dipu’s top priority—he personally ensured a secure ascent on the steep, snowy terrain, positioning porters both in front and behind so the trekker could climb confidently and safely. For those of us who couldn't attempt the higher altitude climb, and didn't mind having a day of rest at Kyranjin Gompa sipping hot coffee, Dipu didn't let the day go by unfulfilled! He lead the grp to a glacier lake walk, the experience & view were equally fantastic, along the way, patting horse & watching the local making their living carrying woods back from the forest, understanding the way of the local Himalayans life.
One moment that truly touched us was in the Langtang Valley, where frozen water pipes meant no running water at the tea houses. Dipu arranged hot water every morning, personally sending it to us so we could wash our faces and brush our teeth—such a small gesture, yet it warmed our hearts immensely.
Thanks to Dipu’s friendly relationship with the locals, we were also invited into tea house kitchens to have our meals, giving us a rare and authentic glimpse into local Himalayan life, having conversations with the young Chef & witnessed the Tibetan local doing their morning prayers in the tea houses.
When our group’s trekking pace differed, Dipu thoughtfully split himself and the porters into two groups so everyone could walk at a comfortable pace while maintaining safety and enjoyment for all.
At the end of each day, Dipu even initiated simple reflection sessions to gather feedback and ensure both guides and porters were aligned with our needs—something thats out of our expectation & we appreciated it.
Guide Dipu was also flexible to adjust the plan as it goes according to our needs, reducing the descending days for us.
To beautifully conclude the journey, a special cultural dinner was included as part of the package. We enjoyed a hearty Dal Bhat meal accompanied by local cultural performances, a meaningful and memorable way to end an already enriching trek.
Dipu is not just a guide; he is caring, professional, observant, and genuinely invested in the well-being of his trekkers. Right from the start, we doubted our ability to complete the trek. Dipu's words : "slowly slowly" , has now etched into our Nepal trek memories.
If you are considering a trek in Nepal—especially if you value safety, warmth, and a family-like experience—I cannot recommend Guide Dipu and Mount Face Nepal highly enough.
This was more than a trek; it was a journey filled with care, trust, and heartfelt moments. Thank you, Guide Dipu, Porters Raju & Shanker.
