Require Permits for Mohare Danda Trek

Two Permits are required for the Mohare Danda Trek, the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and the TIMS card. The cost for ACAP is NPR 3,000 per person for foreign nationals and NPR 1000 for SAARC nationals, while the TIMS card cost is NPR 2,000 for foreign nationals and NPR Trekkers can get both permits in Pokhara or Kathmandu before heading out to Mohare Danda Trek journey. If you’re booking through an agency, they usually handle the paperwork for you.

You’ll need valid passport, valid visa, photos and a copy of your passport to apply. It’s better to store the permits inside a waterproof pouch while trekking. A photo of them on your phone is a good backup in case if they get wet.

Activities : On the first day of our journey, our representative will pick you up from the hotel and begin with a peaceful drive towards Pokhara passing through rivers, green valleys and the early views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. As we ride through small towns and farms we will naturally ease into a trekking mode. Upon reaching Pokhara we will check in our hotel and explore around Lakeside enjoying the majestic Macchapuchhre (Mt. Fishtail) reflecting on Phewa Lake. Many travelers enjoy a walk or peaceful boat ride on the Phewa Lake as the first taste of the Annapurna region.

In the evening, trekkers explore lakeside paths, cozy cafes and soft mountain scenery which is the perfect start for our adventure. Nangi is famous as the hometown of Mahabir Pun, the wireless network pioneer and social worker who introduced Mohare Danda Trek. He designed Mohare Danda Trek as Nepal’s first community-based trekking route by promoting eco lodge and homestay system to empower local residents. As we ascend, the views start to get open with wide view of Dhaulagiri, Tukuche Peak, Nilgiri, Annapurna South and Macchapuchhre (Mt. Fishtail). Once we reach Mohare Danda, we are standing at one of the best viewpoints in the entire region.

Reaching, Mohare Danda is situated on a high ridge at 3,300 m altitude, we arrive at one of the best viewpoints in the Annapurna region. The ridge also hosts Nepal’s highest wireless station, connecting nearby villages. After crossing final high suspension bridge, it takes us to famous village Ghandruk.

Ghandruk is a traditional Gurung village situated at an altitude of 1940 meters which is famous for its rich culture, stone houses, and close views for Annapurna range. Upon reaching here you can explore Gurung cultures, museum or relax on a terrace of tea house while overlooking Himalayas including Macchapuchhre (Mt. Fishtail) and Annapurna South. This makes Ghandruk as one of the most rewarding stops during Mohare Danda Trekking.

After reaching Nayapul we will take a short, comfortable and scenic drive to Pokhara. Upon reaching Pokhara it feels refreshing after spending some days on the Himalayan trail.
