Activities: We will start our day at 9:00 AM in the morning. Today we will visit to two of Kathmandu’s most famous UNESCO world heritage site, Swayambhunath Stupa and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Swayambhunath which is also known as the Self-Created Hill or Monkey Temple, is a sacred site for both Hindus and Buddhists. From here, you can observe the panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley and Mt.Langtang too on clearer days. After that we will be visiting to Kathmandu Durbar Square, which is just 15 min drive or walk away where you can explore museums, medieval temples, courtyards, the famous Kasthamandap from the 7th century and receive blessings from the Living Goddess, Kumari. After lunch, we will return to the hotel for free time and rest, preparing for the next day of adventure.

Activities:We start our day early in the morning and travel by the road, either by public bus or by private jeep. If you choose private jeep, you will be picked up from your hotel after breakfast and your trip to Maccha Khola begins. Alternatively, if you choose public bus, you will be collected from your hotel around at 5:30 am by taxi and taken you to the bus station. Traveling in bus might be less comfortable but adventurous.

We start our journey along the Kathmandu to Pokhara highway. The road from Kathmandu to Salyantar is smooth and paved but beyond Salyantar the drive becomes jumpy and jerky. In private jeep, you can stop in various places and have some photos but in public buses, stops for photo moments and breaks are limited.

Finally, we will reach Maccha Khola by evening, we will rest for the night and will prepare for our next day trek.

After a tasty breakfast at the lodge, we begin our trek and enter to the Manaslu Conservation Area, with excitement feelings for the day ahead. This trek is perfect for the ones who are new to the high-altitude trekking, as elevation grows gradually which allows trekkers to adjust to the high altitude with enough amount of time.

We cross through the Budhi Gandaki River on many several high suspension bridges. If we get lucky, we might spot different waterfalls and the wildlife along the way. The trail takes us through scenic lush forests, small villages where Gurung and Tamang people live in, mostly shepherds in these areas. And we will do plenty of uphill and downhill climbs as we go through the Himalayan trails which is the essence of trekking.

Trek from Maccha Khola to Jagat: Highlights & Timing

We will spend our overnight in Chumling villages, a stone-paved settlement which is similar to the Tibet settlement. After arriving and having lunch, we will have a lot of time to explore Panago Gompa and Gurwa Gompa. These monasteries are only the first glimpse among many spiritual sites along the way on this trek.

Trek from Lokpa to Chumling: Highlights & Timing

  • 8:00 AM  : Departure from Lokpa: We will start our day with a steep climb through the pine, juniper, and rhododendron forests.

Trek from Chekampar to Nile: Highlights & Timing

  • 07:00 AM: Morning Departure: We will start our day early, heading towards Nile, leaving Chekampar.

We will stay our night in Mu Gompa or return to the Nile which will take about 3 hours.

  • 7:00 AM : Depart for Mu Gompa: After waking up we will start our journey into the Tsum Valley, and heading towards the peaceful Mu Gompa monastery.

This place is surrounded by the lush terraced fields which provides a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. The village also serves as a gateway to the both Tsum Valley and Manaslu regions, which makes Philim the important stop for the trekkers. This place is also home to the different small monasteries and cultural heritage where visitors can enjoy the local traditions and customs of the Gurung community.

Activities : This is our final full day of the trek where we will once again meet the Budhi Gandaki River after hiking along the ridge of the river toward Labubesi village. This will be our last night on the trail where we will be staying at the cozy trekking lodge in Maccha Khola.

Trek from Philm to Maccha Khola: Highlights & Timing

  • 07:30 AM:  Begin Trek: After waking up we will start our trek from Philim, where we will be trekking along with the scenic Budhi Gandaki River.
  • 10:00 AM :Pass Labubesi Village: At this phase we will cross the river and we will continue towards the Labubesi village.
  • 12:30 PM :Arrival at Maccha Khola: At afternoon we will reach to Maccha Khola which will be the final overnight stay of the trail.

On the final trek of the day, we still have some hiking to do between Soti Khola and Arughat from where we will take a public bus or private jeep back to the Kathmandu.

Along the way we will witness some beautiful countryside and the wonderful waterfall and then reach to the Arkhet khola(river) at the end of the Budhi Gandaki Valley.

We will be arriving back in Kathmandu, with great feel of achievement and a touch of little sadness as this amazing adventure comes to an end.
